GPS vs. Real-Time Kinematics (RTK): How We Achieve Precision
TL;DR
Your phone's GPS is accurate to 5 meters. Our drones use RTK GPS, which is accurate to 2 centimeters. This technology allows us to fly drones inches apart without colliding.
How do they stay in formation?
Direct Answer: A Base Station on the ground corrects the satellite signal.
Standard GPS drifts. To fix this, we set up a ground station that knows its exact location. It sends "correction data" to the drones many times per second, locking them into a rigid grid in the sky.
Does it work indoors?
Direct Answer: No. RTK requires a view of the sky.
For indoor shows, entirely different technology is used (Optical Flow or UWB beacons). RTK is strictly for outdoor precision. Contact us for more information about indoor shows.
